Downtown Parking:

After retiring in 2002 from Funeral Service I took a much more active role in the revitalization of the Downtown. One of the major issues that faced the Downtown was parking. I joined the “Parking Committee” and in April of 2005 the culmination of nearly 18 months of joint effort between the Downtown partnership, City Council, City Administrator, City Attorney and MTA, a new parking ordinance was drafted and approved. The new ordinance was simple, concise and easy to administer. This ordinance is still in use today. In addition to the new ordinance the Downtown Partnership and the City of Clinton partnered to purchase handheld computers for parking enforcement. Parking complaints have now dropped to a negligible amount and the “Parking Committee” has been disbanded and issues are now dealt with on an individual basis.
