Deer Management:

Three weeks after being appointed to the City Council to fill a vacancy on January 31, 2006. I suggested that the City look at our growing deer population. Subsequently a 5 person deer management committee was formed to which I was appointed as the City Council representative. Our committee diligently worked to establish a “Deer Management Policy” and “Deer Management Zone” in less then 3 months. In the process our committee also updated the “Discharge of Firearms” ordinance which had not been updated since the 70’s and was severely outdated. The City Council unanimously approved the new Deer Management ordinance and updated Discharge of Firearms ordinance in Aug 2006. Deer Management will be starting its sixth season on September 15^th.
